Yes that one is much more playable - trumpets on a scale of 1-10, 1 being you love it a little bit, 10 being self-hugging territory, how much do you love those opening bars!!
I think the issue around bar 80 JJ is knowing when the double trombone solo finishes - I did the first solo then Alan took over and did the second, but it's hard to hear when they both come to and end, so that's the ticket I think to getting this right, making sure the band comes back in together
Haha, there was one little girl in year 1 who is normally quite tactile and just likes to hug staff. We've told her to hug herself when she wants to give us a hug, so she comes up to us, stands next to us hugging herself so we all hug ourselves too and then she runs off happy!
Yeah because my role takes me all over the school, I am effectively following the secondary model - the kids stay in their classes and I am in and out the classrooms, which is why I don't like to sit anywhere or even perch on desks. I'm getting a bit neurotic about it - I've started each lesson today by saying 'please don't hug Mr Barker'
Getting used to life in the bubble. Each year group in a different building on a large campus. Kids stay put - teachers move around. Very tiring and lots of lesson time lost....
I think I have heard that version Paperchase, it's fun how songs we think we know often derive from earlier less known numbers. Like you say Liz not always fair on the royalties
How's school going Martyn? I taught three classes of Year 1s and 2 classes of Year 2s today, and avoided all chairs as I was trying to stay in my own social distanced bubbles so was on my feet all day... I'm a bit cream crackered now,,,
Me. They had a programme all about it on Radio 4 a few years ago. Apparently the bloke who wrote it never got any royalties. Oh, and The Tokens, who sang The Lion Sleeps tonight, were American
Let's see what's new on the playlist, can we look at Moondance next please - not sure if it's African, but you get some lovely views of the moon from the Savannah - Moondance 7.46 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQFfu4jeLGU
bye
Night all.
Great rehearsal and seeing you all. Thanks Jonathan. See you all next week - Mike and Carol

Hope you all have a good week - and don't forget if you're feeling a bit down try the newfound power of a self-hug! :)
Night everyone from me and Y - I might give this one a sing along as well Chris - Paperchase can't hear me so I won't get any complaints!

true, ready
Let's stay in R&R mode and do Johnny B Goode next please https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjBsX4QLbKk
8.10
This one's a bit easier :)
Bar 80 onwards gets tricky for me
That starts off really well but then gets really tricky through the solos. Maybe we can just do the first 33 bars... :)
I really made a mess of it
OK with me
Me too. Go ahead
You can have a short break if you got it perfect...
Not sure about everyone else buy Y and I both went wrong in that, do you mind if we give it a second run through straight away? :)
1 2 3 4
Here we go then, Rock Around The Clock
Maybe you should try that one - maybe that's all you need a good self-hug!!
If only my life was so simple with the older ones
Haha, there was one little girl in year 1 who is normally quite tactile and just likes to hug staff. We've told her to hug herself when she wants to give us a hug, so she comes up to us, stands next to us hugging herself so we all hug ourselves too and then she runs off happy!
But we love you Mr Barker........
whoo lets rock
Next up a bit of Rock and Roll let's do Rock Around The Clock at 7.57 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmCm3lo0Ar8

Lion Sleeps Tonight is a traditional Zulu lullaby. The original words are 'Daddy is out hunting, there will be lion meat in the morning'!
No I think that's just the sound of the band laughing at us...
First day back - first time on my feet all day for months - not good! (Can I hear any violins?)
A Y10 kid at one of our trust schools tested positive for Covid and the whole year group has been sent home
Getting used to life in the bubble. Each year group in a different building on a large campus. Kids stay put - teachers move around. Very tiring and lots of lesson time lost....
